Important – Minerals and Waste Development Framework Consultation

Please, please complete the consultation document. It’s important that your decision makers know what you think (along with the other 10,000 people who signed our petitions).

NYCC is currently undertaking a consultation exercise, asking people to comment on the proposed Waste Core Strategy, an inherent part of which is the planned incinerator at Allerton Park.

The deadline for replies has been extended to 30 September

To make this easy, we are attaching a blank paper response form and a completed form with a variety of answers. Please feel free to use the completed form and add or delete the information as you wish (just adjust the answers in the boxes. Don’t make any changes to the base document.)

The full consultation document can be read here

Once completed, send it to the address on the back of the form. No stamp is needed.

There is an online form which can be found in the consultation document BUT we strongly recommend you use the paper form as the online form is difficult to use, the questions are ambiguous and the multiple choice responses are inappropriate, ambiguous and susceptible to distorted analysis or wrong interpretation.

You are being asked to assume that Allerton incinerator will be built when you reply. However, planning permission has not even been applied for, let alone granted. You cannot make that assumption because we are assuming we WILL stop it – with your support.

What’s happening?

We are still waiting for the Planning Application for the Allerton Incinerator to be submitted. There are obviously some technical problems surrounding submission but we keep being told that it will happen any day now. It doesn’t look as though it will just go away – even though we continue to give North Yorkshire County Council plenty of information on why this scheme is

  • bad for North Yorkshire ratepayers
  • bad for the UK taxpayer
  • bad for employment in the area
  • bad for the environment

Please remind everyone that this is not a “done deal” and there is everything to fight for.
